It’s about time someone like Uribe is actually held accountable—he’s been untouchable for way too long while everyday Colombians suffer from the corruption and violence he helped enable. This conviction gives hope that the old oligarchic elites aren’t above the law forever. Let’s not forget his ties to paramilitaries and the way he pushed anti-worker, anti-poor policies while pretending to be a man of the people. Hopefully, this is just the beginning of real justice for all those harmed by his actions.

Honestly, this conviction is a big deal for Colombia and shows that even the most powerful shouldn’t be above the law. For years, people have been demanding real accountability from politicians, so seeing Uribe finally face consequences feels like a step forward for democracy. Hopefully, this sets a precedent that corruption and abuse of power won’t be tolerated, no matter your status. Now, it’s up to the justice system to keep building trust and make sure justice isn’t just for show.
